Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is extracted from the flesh of the coconut fruit. It is a vegetable oil and its main component is lauric acid – a saturated fatty acid, mainly known for speeding up metabolism.
Coconut oil is white in colour and has a solid consistency, but changes to liquid at increased temperatures and the colour is transparent. It has a delicate, pleasant coconut scent, is resistant to high temperatures, resists oxidation, so its colour does not turn yellow over time. Coconut oil is not stored in fat reserves and releases energy gradually. Its use is truly broad-spectrum, from hair, skin, and complexion care to an irreplaceable helper in the kitchen. It is a healthy fat, contains fibre, so it is very beneficial for healthy eating, even weight loss!

How can we use coconut oil?
Hair:
Do you have dry, brittle, stressed hair without shine? Make a coconut oil wrap! Apply a thin layer of oil to the ends of your hair, wrap it in a towel and leave it on for at least 1 hour.If the oil seems too greasy, feel free to mix it with a mask for dry hair with split ends. Afterwards, wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo and continue with your usual styling routine. Be sure to choose a shampoo carefully to degrease your hair.
Skin:
You can use coconut oil as an excellent massage oil that moisturises and relaxes the skin. It takes care of skin hydration all year round. In winter, in low temperatures, when our skin is dried out by frost, and in summer, in constant sunshine. Coconut oil is excellent for deep hydration of our skin, but it does not have a protective factor. Therefore, feel free to mix it with sunscreen or use a sunscreen that already contains it, such as natural SPF30 sunscreen from WoodenSpoon. The skin will be beautifully smooth, fresh, healthy and protected at the same time.
If you use coconut oil after sunbathing, it is guaranteed to give your skin a delicious, cooling effect. It's also excellent for dry cuticles, dry feet, and irritated skin after shaving.
Skin:
It has excellent emollient properties and is quickly absorbed into the skin, so it moisturises our skin without leaving an unpleasant greasy film. Because coconut oil has antibacterial effects, it is suitable for the treatment of acne-prone skin. Application is very simple. Every evening, apply coconut oil to cleansed, dried skin and massage it in with gentle circular motions. Leave it on overnight, and in the morning, wash and cleanse the skin thoroughly again.
Teeth:
Beautiful, healthy, and white smile? Coconut oil will help you with that too. Since it has antibacterial effects, it acts as a prevention against tooth decay. After each wash, apply a small amount of coconut oil to your finger and gently run it evenly over all your teeth. Regular use will also ensure a more beautiful and much whiter smile. As a food:
Coconut oil is an excellent helper in the kitchen. It contains vitamins such as A, C and E, has a delicious taste and a pleasant aroma. It is used for baking cakes, as an ingredient in salads and replaces butter on bread. In addition, it does not burn, it is stable up to 200°C, so it is also suitable for frying. Coconut oil helps us lose weight. It is not stored in fat reserves, is very easy to digest and reduces the feeling of hunger. It supports the creation of healthy hormones, reduces stress and gradually increases our energy throughout the day.
Pay attention to proper use and dosage:
- Like every excellent food, coconut oil has its advantages and disadvantages.
- Despite all the beneficial effects, it may not suit everyone. Pay particular attention to coconut intolerance and allergies.
- Sometimes less is more. While it helps with weight loss on the one hand, excessive use will have the opposite effect. This is due to the fatty acids that cause a calorie bomb when "overdosed" and have undesirable effects on our heart.
- Intestinal problems can also occur, although they tend to disappear very quickly.
- Do not use coconut oil as the only oil, try to replace it from time to time with other fats, such as lard, olive oil or nuts.
