How are floral waters made?

Traditional production and use of floral waters dates back to the distant past. Hydrosols were made from herbs and flowers grown in their own gardens, and their use was varied - to add flavour and aroma in cooking, as a toilet water for personal hygiene, or even as a medicine.

Many floral waters, e.g. rose waters, are mainly made from distilled water, however, Alteya organic rose water is made from thermal water, which provides it with additional effects and essentially enhances them. Alteya rose water is even among the highest quality rose waters with the highest concentration of rose oil contained in thermal water. This rose water has several certificates that confirm its purity and effects. As a result, it is important to handle it in such a way as to maintain its quality and effects for as long as possible.

During the production of floral waters and their subsequent storage, cleanliness is very important. This involves careful sterilisation of the tools used, as well as containers, atomisers, etc. A constant temperature of approx. up to 16-17 degrees and dark glass bottles are suitable for holding and storage, as hydrolates lose quality when exposed to light. Ideally, dark but transparent glass should be used, which protects the contents from light, but also allows you to monitor the quantity in the bottle.

What are they made of?

Various types of roses are used to make rose water. However, the most sought-after rose used to make this water is the Damask rose – i.e. the Bulgarian rose. It has antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the skin, relieve irritation and reduce fine lines on the face.

Did you know that? ... In Bulgaria, the region is now known as the Valley of Roses and is currently one of the largest exporters of rose lotion and rose oil.

Which floral water should you choose?

Since floral waters are mostly made of water, their properties are determined by the substances released during distillation from the plant itself. However, if you are allergic to the plant from which the hydrolate comes, reach for another type of floral water. Just choose the right herb, suitable for your skin type and the beautifying fun can begin!
