Natural products to support hair growth and health

Hair growth and health are often influenced by many factors, such as genetics, nutrition, lifestyle and external influences. The most commonly used and effective natural ingredients for improving hair health include various essential oils, hydrolates and other plant extracts.

Essential oils for hair

Essential oils are known for their high concentration of bioactive substances, which have a positive effect on the scalp and hair. Among the most effective for promoting hair growth and health is Rosemary essential oil.

Rosemary essential oil

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is traditionally known for its ability to stimulate hair growth. Research shows that Rosemary essential oil is effective in promoting blood circulation in the scalp, which can help stimulate new hair growth. In addition, rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties that can help with skin irritation. Studies suggest that using rosemary essential oil may have similar effects to minoxidil, a commonly used hair growth medication.

It's important to emphasise that studies demonstrate the effectiveness of essential oil, not, for example, rosemary extract or teas. Herbal infusions can have beneficial effects on the skin, but their concentration of active substances is much lower than that of essential oils, and therefore their effectiveness is also limited.

To use rosemary essential oil on hair, it is best to combine it with a carrier oil (e.g. castor, jojoba or argan oil) to minimise the risk of scalp irritation.

Nettle for hair health

Common Nettle (Nettle dioica) is another herb that has long been used to improve hair health. It contains many valuable substances, such as vitamins (C, A, K, B), minerals (iron, magnesium, silicon) and amino acids, which promote hair growth and strengthen hair along its entire length.

Historical use of nettle

Nettle has traditionally been used to strengthen hair health, both in the form of teas and when rinsing hair after washing. It was considered a remedy for hair loss and to improve its quality. Nettle extract is added to shampoos, hair tonics and masks, as it was known for its ability to strengthen hair and promote a healthy appearance.

Nettle can help improve blood circulation in the scalp, which promotes hair growth. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, which is useful for irritated scalp, and strengthens hair due to its silicon content.

For home use, nettle tea or infusion can be used as a rinse after washing hair. Nettle extracts are also available in various capsules or tinctures, which are taken internally to support hair health.

Under our Venoc brand, we have also prepared for you nettle hydrolate, which is the easiest way to apply nettle extracts to dry and wet hair and for everyday, hassle-free use.
