Where this is not possible, at least 70% of the natural ingredients must be of organic quality. In addition to these conditions, the Soil Association Organic certificate confirms that certified products:

• are not tested on animals and do not contain animal ingredients
• do not contain parabens (Parabens are a group of chemical substances widely used as preservatives in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. They can cause allergies, and animal studies have shown their oestrogenic activity).
• do not contain genetically modified organisms
• do not contain SLS (sulphates) and SLES (ethoxylated sulphates)
• do not contain petrochemicals
