Cosmetic Questions and Our Answers
Is it a good idea to combine products from different brands?
Save time you would spend on properly combining products from different brands, and rather choose a serum, day, night and eye cream from the same brand.
The individual substances will not interfere with each other, as they are made so that their combined effect is as intense as possible. However, it is not very appropriate to use the same composition for several years in the long term, a change from time to time will not hurt.
How do I know if I have sensitive skin too?
Sensitive skin is a very common problem, especially in women, but it does not avoid the male population either. Up to 79% of women suffer from some of the symptoms of sensitive skin, which can cause them to feel uncomfortable.
Subjective symptoms include itching, burning, stinging, skin tension, which are associated with visible, often unpleasant external symptoms such as redness, dry skin or the formation of flakes.
What exactly are parabens? Are they harmful? Why should we avoid them in cosmetics?
Parabens are used as preservatives in commonly available, as well as luxury, cosmetics. They are also found in cosmetics manufactured in pharmacies and in other medicinal products. They are most often found in deodorants and antiperspirants, body creams, as well as in face or hand creams, and also in shampoos. Many different studies are being carried out worldwide which have shown that after applying a product containing parabens to the skin, this chemical substance is absorbed into the body very quickly, and even after a few hours it appears in the blood.
Parabens can be considered practically non-toxic substances, but especially for sensitive skin, we are talking about relatively aggressive substances that can cause unnecessary irritation and disruption of the skin's balance. Bioruźa believes that to minimise the risk of an allergic reaction, these ingredients must be omitted from cosmetic products.
How to use serum correctly?
Serum is specific due to its high content of active ingredients. Serums are applied to the skin and neck after cleansing, as this is when the ingredients are best and most effectively absorbed. Although they can be used alone, you will achieve the best effect when you apply it under a day or night cream. This will provide the skin with additional beneficial substances and also promote the absorption of the cream. Wait a few minutes between applying the serum and the cream.
When should I start using anti-wrinkle creams?
You can start with anti-wrinkle care around the age of 25. However, it's individual. It depends on the skin type, external influences, and the skin's tendency to form wrinkles. Heredity and facial expressions are important here. It is scientifically proven that our entire body ages from around the age of thirty. It is no different with the skin. Collagen production slows down, the skin loses elasticity and hydration, and shows other signs of aging, such as dilated capillaries or pigmentation. The activity of the sebaceous glands also decreases.
When should I start using eye cream?
Light, hydrating eye creams are fine from the age of 18. Prevention is the most important thing, and the sooner, the better. However, it also depends on the condition of the skin. The skin around the eyes needs a lot of care because it is the most sensitive and weakest area of our skin. For this reason, the first wrinkles also form in this area around the eyes.
Are creams for 50-year-olds suitable even if I'm 30?
There are anti-wrinkle creams (for example, eye creams) that you can use both in your fifties and in your thirties. But if the product states that it is intended for mature skin, it means that its composition is adapted to mature skin, affected by hormonal changes, and not younger skin. Of course, it won't harm it, but it also won't have the effective effect that the product guarantees for older skin. Lifting creams for mature skin are literally packed with effective ingredients, and thirty-year-old skin will only take what it needs from the product. Therefore, it is unnecessary to use such a cream on young skin, for which other types of creams are more suitable.

Can the skin get used to a cream over time, and will it stop working?
It can't be said that the cream stops working after a while. However, it is recommended to replace the cream with another of the same type, but for example from a different manufacturer, after some time of use. It differs in its composition and the resulting skin condition is then better than with long-term use of the same brand and composition. Products still work the same, but due to changes in the skin condition (caused by various factors such as age, climate, season, lifestyle) it is necessary to alternate creams as needed.
Can I use the same cream on my neck as on my face?
Yes, unless your favourite brand has a special cream for the neck and décolletage. The skin on the neck and décolletage ages very quickly. Therefore, it is necessary to take proper care of it, because age shows there first, just like on the hands.
How much cream does dry skin or skin with atopic dermatitis need?
Ideally, the entire body should come into contact with the cream, but at a minimum, it is necessary to treat the affected areas regularly. In addition, it is important to cream the skin not only once a day, but at least twice a day, because the skin can only absorb a limited amount of oil. A reliable sign that shows whether you have applied enough cream is itching. If the amount of cream or frequency of use was too low, the itching is more intense. As a simple guide, the amount of cream that covers the tip of an adult's index finger can be used. This amount is sufficient for a skin area that is about twice the size of an adult's palm.
How to store cosmetic products?
Products should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from sunlight. Gel consistency cosmetic products are recommended to be stored in the refrigerator. Store cream that you do not use regularly in the refrigerator as well, this will extend its shelf life. Individual ingredients lose their effect over time, and cream past its expiration date will certainly not work. Shelf life varies, but what is important is the shelf life after opening. It usually ranges from six months to two years.
For eye creams, it's only three months. Due to the sensitive skin around the eyes, they contain only a minimum of preservatives.
How long does it take to see the effect of using the product?
Unfortunately, you won't see the effects of the cream immediately or after three days. They will first appear after two months. This is how long the skin needs to react to the active ingredients.
It takes at least three weeks for all skin cells to absorb the active ingredients, and another three for the new cells to reach the surface.
Can I use moisturising cream in winter?
You may come across the opinion that using moisturising cream in winter is dangerous. But the opposite is true! High-quality moisturising creams should be used precisely in winter. Hydrating ingredients penetrate deep into the skin and are released gradually, so there's definitely no risk of icicles forming on your face. Using hydrating creams in winter is important due to the high stress on the skin from frequent transitions between different temperatures.
