Sustainability has a name L'Erbolario
L'Erbolario was founded in the Italian town of Lodi in 1978 as a small artisan herbalist shop. As is often the case, the beginning of a successful business was a passion for the world of medicinal herbs. Later, the family recipes of the founders, Franco Bergamaschi and his wife Daniela Villa, were supplemented by knowledge from courses in herbalism, phytocosmetics and phytopreparation. It wasn't long before their products went beyond the doors of the shop in Lodi and spread to the shelves of shops all over Italy. Today, L'Erbolario is an acclaimed brand in as many as 42 countries.
In production, they use medicinal plants from their own botanical garden, such as iris, calendula, lavender, lemon balm, mint, rosemary, sage and others. All medicinal herbs, ornamental species, fruits and vegetables are grown on a large plot of land surrounding the L'Erbolario manufacturing plant. They are cultivated in accordance with strict organic farming standards, using exclusively natural fertilisers and remedies without the use of any pesticides, herbicides or synthetic substances.
All extracts are produced in their own laboratory without external inputs. They select only the best plants, which are ideally organic. All raw materials undergo rigorous analysis to verify the absence of more than 300 types of pesticides. For the production of extracts, they use only ecologically safe solvents, such as water, glycerine and organic vegetable oils. They often use fresh fruit, such as cucumbers, tangerines, lemons and mangoes - all hand-cut.
A group of qualified experts in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, microbiology and toxicology is responsible for the continuous research of cosmetic forms and highly innovative and functional plant ingredients.Once developed, the formula undergoes strict quality control: microbiological tests and chemical-physical analyses are performed to monitor the presence of heavy metals (the aim is to guarantee the stability and safety of the product).
Equipment with a capacity of up to 12,000 kg helps to repeat safety operations in larger quantities.Technology guarantees the same high standard for every single product. Products are monitored and their stability is checked for up to six months.
All packaging is eco-friendly, preferably made from a single material or easily separated into recyclable components. They respect the environment and social justice and, of course, do not test their products on animals.
The main philosophy of L'Erbolario is to not prioritise our own needs at the expense of future generations. A motto that, if followed, would help everyone save the planet. :)
