Natural products to support hair growth and health
Hair growth and health are often influenced by many factors such as genetics, nutrition, lifestyle, and external influences. Among the most commonly used and most effective natural ingredients to improve hair health are various essential oils, hydrosols, and other botanical extracts.
Essential oils for hair
Essential oils are known for their high concentration of bioactive compounds that positively affect the scalp and hair. Among the most effective for supporting hair growth and overall hair health is rosemary essential oil.
Rosemary essential oil
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) has traditionally been known for its ability to stimulate hair growth. Research shows that rosemary essential oil is effective at promoting scalp circulation, which may help stimulate new hair growth. In addition, rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties that can help with scalp irritation. Studies suggest that using rosemary essential oil may have effects comparable to minoxidil, a commonly used medication for supporting hair growth.
It is important to emphasize that studies demonstrate the efficacy of the essential oil specifically—not, for example, rosemary infusions or teas. Herbal infusions can benefit the skin, but their concentration of active compounds is much lower than that of essential oils, and their effectiveness is therefore more limited.
For hair use, it is best to combine rosemary essential oil with a carrier oil (e.g., castor, jojoba, or argan oil) to minimize the risk of scalp irritation.

Nettle for hair health
Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is another herb long used to improve hair health. It contains many valuable substances such as vitamins (C, A, K, B), minerals (iron, magnesium, silica), and amino acids that support hair growth and strengthen hair along its entire length.
Traditional use of nettle
Nettle has traditionally been used to strengthen hair health, both as teas and as a rinse after washing. It was considered a remedy against hair loss and for improving hair quality. Nettle extract is added to shampoos, hair tonics, and masks because of its ability to strengthen hair and promote a healthy appearance.
Nettle may help improve scalp circulation, which supports hair growth. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, useful for irritated scalps, and strengthens hair thanks to its silica content.
For home use, nettle tea or infusion can be used as a rinse after washing the hair. Nettle extracts are also available in various capsules or tinctures taken internally to support hair health.
Under our Venoc brand, we have also prepared a nettle hydrosol, which is the simplest way to apply nettle extracts to dry or wet hair and for effortless everyday use.
