The reason is simple: during this period, the sun is too low on the horizon for enough UVB rays to reach the skin, which the body can use to produce its own vitamin D3.
Vitamin K2, especially in the MK-7 form, is its natural partner — supporting proper calcium utilization in the body. This is why D3 and K2 are often combined to allow the body to fully utilize both vitamins, even when sunlight is critically scarce.
