Making homemade balm
Making your own lip or body balm can be simple and fun, and making cosmetics at home is a great way to easily care for your skin using natural cosmetics. The following procedure shows an example of how you can make homemade lip balm. A similar procedure can also be used to make body balm, for example.
What you will need:
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil
- 5-10 drops of essential oil of your choice
- small glass jars for storage

Instructions:
- You can purchase all the ingredients in our eshop.
- In a water bath, melt the wax, shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil in a small saucepan over a low heat until melted.
- Add the essential oil and mix.
- Pour into small glass jars and let cool.
- The balm is ready and you can use it.
This procedure can be easily modified according to your needs and preferences. For example, you can change the type of oil you add according to the specific needs of your skin, or add other ingredients such as vitamins or antioxidants. You can also use different essential oils for different scents and effects.
It's important to use high-quality, pure ingredients to ensure the best results and minimise the risk of allergic reactions.
Homemade balm without coconut oil:
Ingredients:
- 3g beeswax
- 3g shea butter
- 3g cocoa butter
- 1,5g jojoba oil
- 1.5g avocado oil
- a few drops essential oil (such as lavender or rose)

Instructions:
- In a small saucepan or double boiler, heat the beeswax until completely melted.
- Add the shea butter and cocoa butter, jojoba and avocado oil and stir until the mixture is well combined.
- Then remove the pot from the heat and add the essential oil, stir and pour into small jars or cups.
- Allow the mixture to solidify, and the balm is ready to use.
This balm is suitable for dry and sensitive skin, but you can also use it on your lips or on dry areas of the body. You can store it in a closed container at room temperature.
An alternative for vegans is to replace beeswax with candelilla wax, which has a similar melting point.
